The 15 yard container in Spartanburg

The 15 yard is the step up from the 10 when the job is one big room rather than one small one. Kitchen and bathroom remodels are the classic fit — cabinets, countertops, vanities, tile and the drywall behind them — and so is a carpet or flooring change-out, a deck coming down, a garage or attic cleanout that turned out bigger than expected, or a yard cleanup after a storm. It holds about four to five pickup loads.

At about 14 feet long it fits most driveways around Spartanburg without blocking the garage, and the low sidewalls make loading over the side easier. If you are between a 10 and a 20 and the stuff is light and bulky, this is usually where you land.

Kitchens, floors, decks and yards

A kitchen makes more debris than people expect: by the time the cabinets, the backsplash and the subfloor are out, a 10 is tight and a 15 is right. Flooring jobs are the same — carpet, pad, laminate and tile. Roofing tear-offs fit too; tell us the roof size and how many layers are coming off and we will check the weight before you book.

Backyard jobs fit as well — branches, shrubs, a landscape refresh. Keep the green waste out of household trash: South Carolina law bars mixing yard trash into loads headed for a household-trash landfill, so a clean green load is the cheap one to place. If more than half the load is tile, plaster or concrete, call us — the 10 yard may be the better weight call.

Weight on a 15 yard

Two to three tons — about 4,000 to 6,000 pounds — is included, depending on the material. That is the same allowance as the 10: the 15 gives you more room, not more weight. Flooring, tile, plaster, roofing and wet yard waste add up fast, so for a heavy job we estimate the weight from your roof size, flooring square footage or material list and tell you up front whether it fits. Cabinets, drywall and carpet never get near the line.

Suitability

Is the 15 yard the right size for you?

Rough working figures. Weight, not volume, is what usually decides.

Choose the 15 yard for

  • Kitchen or bath remodel including cabinets and counters
  • Garage, attic or multi-room cleanouts
  • Flooring, carpet and drywall replacement
  • Deck removal
  • Branches, shrubs, leaves and storm debris

Pick a different size for

  • Whole-house renovation — go to the 20 or 30
  • Loads that are mostly tile, plaster or concrete (weight — use a 10 loaded level)
  • Yard waste mixed into bagged household trash
  • Paint, chemicals, oil, propane tanks, tires, batteries, TVs and computers, or asbestos

Placing a 15 yard container on a Spartanburg-area property

It needs a flat, stable spot about 14 feet long and 8 feet wide, a straight run for the truck to back in, and clear space overhead — no low power lines or branches. On your own driveway or lot we found no City of Spartanburg or Spartanburg County rule requiring a permit for a roll-off; in a City street, sidewalk, alley or parking space you need the City's Temporary Street Closure/Encroachment application — a minimum $75 fee, a $1 million liability certificate, a $10,000 bond and an approved traffic control plan — and on a state road S.C. Code Sec. 57-7-210 makes an obstruction unlawful and SCDOT handles encroachment permits. Other towns have their own rules — Greer's development code keeps a temporary dumpster out of the front setback unless there is an active building permit, and Pacolet keeps bulk containers off its streets unless the Town designates a spot. Check your HOA too: covenants can cover containers in driveways. Boards go under the dumpster on request. Each town page covers its own code.

Answers

15 Yard Dumpster — questions we get asked

How big is a 15 yard dumpster?

About 14 feet long, 8 feet wide and 4.5 feet high. It fits most driveways around Spartanburg and still gives you four to five pickup loads of room.

Will it fit in my driveway?

Most driveways have room for its 14 feet. The truck needs a straight run to back in and clear space overhead. On your own driveway we found no City of Spartanburg or Spartanburg County rule requiring a permit for a roll-off. If you live in a community with an HOA, check its covenants on containers before you book.

Can I keep it longer than a week?

Yes. The standard rental is up to 7 days and extensions are a low daily rate — just call or text before the scheduled pickup. If the box sits in a City street, the dates on the City's street permit set the clock too.

What is the weight limit?

Two to three tons — about 4,000 to 6,000 pounds — is included, depending on what is going in. Dense material like shingles, tile or wet yard waste can push past that, so tell us what it is and we will estimate it on the phone.
