Permits, placement and who may haul in Pacolet

Who may haul: we found no franchise — §18-9(5) has businesses buy or rent containers "from standard suppliers." The Town requires an annual business license, and we hold ours, along with the Spartanburg County collector's license County Code §66-3 requires.

Street placement — the rule that matters: §18-9(1) says "Bulk containers shall not be placed on the sidewalk, grass plot, curb, gutter or street," unless a business has no accessible rear entrance and the Town designates a spot. We found no separate permit for a residential roll-off in the street, so it goes on your driveway or lot — that normally needs no permit, and our crew confirms the spot with you. Failing to move contractor trash from the street after notice is a citable offense (§18-3(24)).

Knocking something down: for a commercial building, or an apartment building of more than four units, SCDES (formerly DHEC) needs a written demolition application at least 10 working days before work starts, even if no asbestos is found. Homes of four units or fewer are generally exempt from the state's asbestos project rules when the owner does the work. Asbestos needs its own handling — tell us before any goes in.

Summarized from the city's published code and web pages as read in October 2026. Codes change — confirm with the department listed before you rely on it.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Pacolet

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. 1

Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask your location, what you are clearing, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No long forms, no guesswork.

  2. 2

We size it and quote it flat

You get one number covering delivery, the standard rental of up to 7 days, pickup, disposal and a stated weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. 3

    Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site exactly where you asked, with boards under it if you want them. Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability.

  4. 4

    Load at your own pace

Keep it level with the top edge and keep the banned items out — tires, car batteries, used oil and filters, liquid paint, chemicals, propane tanks, TVs and computers, and appliances such as fridges, washers and water heaters. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call or text and we are on it.

  5. 5

We haul it and dispose of it right

The load goes to Spartanburg County's Wellford Landfill — the county's own landfill, where county code sends licensed haulers — with metal, concrete, cardboard and clean green waste recycled whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

We run roll-off containers out of the Asheville Highway yard to every town below. Spartanburg and the closest towns are often same-day; the edges of the county are more often next-day.
