Roll-off dumpster rental in Greer

Approx. 20 road miles from the yard, around 30 minutes.

Greer is approx. 20 road miles west-southwest of the yard, around 30 minutes — same-day or next-day, often the same day. It is a city of 35,308 at the 2020 Census, split across two counties: 25,587 people on the Greenville County side and 9,721 on the Spartanburg County side.

City sanitation code says building wastes and rubble from construction, repair or razing "will not be hauled unless arrangements are made with the public services office for payment," and that lot clearings, tree removals and stumps go to the landfill with the owner or contractor. A roll-off keeps it simple.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Greer

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • City Hall at 301 E. Poinsett Street.
  • Greer City Park — the City calls it a "signature destination."
  • Household trash — a City notice from February 2026 names Meridian Waste as the City's trash collection contractor.
  • Greer Convenience Center at 315 Buncombe Street — City residents only, with proof of residency, for recyclables and e-waste. It does not take construction debris.

What comes out of Greer properties

Kitchens, baths and roofs in 15s and 20s, cleanouts in 15s and 20s, new construction in 30s and 40s, and a 10 for concrete and brick. City greencarts cannot hold soil, sod or construction materials such as concrete, lumber or bricks (§74-71), and abnormal brush has to be cleared no later than seven days after cutting (§74-32(e)). South Carolina keeps lead-acid batteries, used motor oil, whole tires and home electronics out of landfills, so they stay out of the container.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Greer

Who may haul: Greer's sanitation chapter has no exclusive commercial or roll-off franchise — §74-30 has businesses provide their own containers for private refuse collection. City Code §18-31 requires a business license for business inside city limits, and Spartanburg County Code §66-3 requires a county collector's license in Spartanburg County. We hold ours.

On the property — the rule that matters: UDO §4.6 allows a temporary dumpster only for refuse from the same property. With an active City building permit for the address, it may sit on the property — in the front setback only if it stays clear of the sight triangle and sits on an impervious surface. With no building permit, one dumpster per dwelling unit, and never in the front setback. Our crew confirms the spot with you.

In the street: City Code §62-181 makes it unlawful to encroach on any City street, alley or park with "any obstructions whatsoever," and we found no City permit for a dumpster in the street. The City's encroachment permit covers digging in the street or right-of-way, and work on a state-highway street also needs an SCDOT encroachment permit (§78-31).

Where it goes: Spartanburg County Code §66-3 says licensed collectors dispose at the county landfill, and §66-34(b) bars waste from outside Spartanburg County there without a special permit. Greenville County says all commercial haulers disposing at a Greenville County facility must use its Twin Chimneys Landfill.

Summarized from the city's published code and web pages as read in October 2026. Codes change — confirm with the department listed before you rely on it.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Greer

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. 1

Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask your location, what you are clearing, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No long forms, no guesswork.

  2. 2

We size it and quote it flat

You get one number covering delivery, the standard rental of up to 7 days, pickup, disposal and a stated weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. 3

    Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site exactly where you asked, with boards under it if you want them. Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability.

  4. 4

    Load at your own pace

Keep it level with the top edge and keep the banned items out — tires, car batteries, used oil and filters, liquid paint, chemicals, propane tanks, TVs and computers, and appliances such as fridges, washers and water heaters. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call or text and we are on it.

  5. 5

We haul it and dispose of it right

The load goes to Spartanburg County's Wellford Landfill — the county's own landfill, where county code sends licensed haulers — with metal, concrete, cardboard and clean green waste recycled whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Local answers

Dumpster rental in Greer — common questions

Is Greer same-day?

Same-day or next-day, often the same day — it is about 30 minutes from the yard. Call (864) 310-7644 and ask.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Greer?

Not a separate dumpster permit, as far as we found — but the City's development code sets where it can go. With an active building permit it can sit on the property; without one, one dumpster per home, kept out of the front setback.

Can the dumpster go in a Greer street?

No. City code bans obstructions in City streets, and we found no permit for a dumpster there.

Will the City haul my remodel debris?

Only by arrangement and payment through the public services office — City code says building wastes and rubble from construction, repair or razing will not be hauled otherwise. A container is usually simpler.

Every town we cover

We run roll-off containers out of the Asheville Highway yard to every town below. Spartanburg and the closest towns are often same-day; the edges of the county are more often next-day. The county licenses private haulers, several towns require a business license, and some keep containers out of the street — each page says so plainly. If your town is not listed, call anyway.
