Dumpster Rental Cost in Spartanburg, SC: What It Covers

The typical range, and why we quote by phone

Typical dumpster rentals in Spartanburg range from $295 to $695, with no hidden pickup, fuel or delivery fees. Where a job lands depends on the dumpster size, the length of the rental, the type of debris and any placement or permit requirements. The flat rate covers delivery, pickup and hauling, disposal within the weight limit for your size and the standard 7-day rental. You get one clear price before the dumpster is delivered, and the number we give you is the number you plan around.

We quote by phone rather than post a price list because the things that decide the number — what is going in, how heavy it is and how far the truck runs — change from job to job. A 15 yard of carpet in Boiling Springs and a 10 yard of broken patio in Woodruff are different jobs at the landfill gate and on the road. Call (864) 310-7644 with the address and the material and you will have a firm number before you hang up.

Where the number comes from: disposal

The biggest cost inside any flat rate is disposal. Spartanburg County Code §66-3 requires licensed collectors to dispose of everything they haul at the county sanitary landfill, so our loads go to the County's Wellford Landfill at 595 Little Mountain Road. It runs a Class Two landfill for construction, demolition and land-clearing debris, a Class Three landfill for household trash, and a wood chipping and grinding facility. It is open 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday, and closed on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.

The County's FY26 fee schedule lists municipal solid waste at $33 a ton, and lists construction and demolition debris, yard waste debris, lead-based material, a cardboard surcharge, a mixed-load surcharge and a special handling surcharge as separate lines. County Code §66-7 says the landfill charges haulers by tonnage and/or volume. That is why we ask what is going in: a clean, sorted load costs less to dispose of than a mixed one, and the savings stay in your quote.

The things that move it

Weight. Each size has a typical weight limit — about 2–3 tons on a 10 or 15, 3–4 on a 20, 4–5 on a 30 and 5–6 on a 40, depending on the material. Concrete, brick, dirt and shingles use it up fast, so we help you plan a heavy load before you fill it rather than surprise you after.

Days. The standard rental is 7 days. Need longer? Call or text and we extend it for a small daily fee. Finished early? Call or text and we move pickup up — there is no penalty for an early pickup.

Distance. Delivery location is part of every quote. From our Asheville Highway yard, approximate road miles to the middle of each place are: Boiling Springs about 4, Inman 5, Wellford 8, Lyman and Roebuck 12, Duncan 13, Cowpens, Moore and Reidville 15, Landrum 17, Chesnee and Pacolet 18, Greer 20 and Woodruff 23. Approximate figures, but they explain why the far runs can cost a little more.

What the do-it-yourself options cost

For a small job, hauling it yourself may be cheaper. For anything bigger, the trips and the limits add up:

OptionPublished charge or limitNotes
Wellford Landfill, 595 Little Mountain Rd$33 a ton for household trash (FY26); other materials on separate linesWhere the County sends furniture and construction materials; open 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday
County recycling and collection centersCounty residents onlyHousehold garbage and recyclables; no construction materials or furniture
City of Spartanburg bulk itemsFurniture and appliances 3 feet from your cartRemoved within 1 to 2 business days; no contractor construction debris
City of Spartanburg green wasteUp to a 30 cubic yard load (Code §28-43)Routine pruning only; no limbs over 6 ft long or 6 in across, no stumps, dirt or contractor waste
Tires at the Wellford LandfillUp to 5 per household free; then $1.50 a tire ($3.50 oversized)The only County site that takes tires
City of Chesnee yard debrisFirst truckload free, then $75 a loadOwner-generated only; no contractor debris or clear-cut lots

Every DIY trip is a covered load, a drive to Little Mountain Road and a 4:30 p.m. gate — and County Code §66-46 fines an uncovered loose load $100 to $200. Past a handful of trips, one roll-off usually wins on money and on Saturdays.

Permit fees — published and not

None of these change our flat rate, but they can add to the cost of a job. A container on a City of Spartanburg street, sidewalk, alley or parking space needs the City's Temporary Street Closure and/or Encroachment permit: a minimum fee of $75, a $1,000,000 liability certificate, a $10,000 surety bond, an approved traffic control plan and all traffic control devices at the applicant's cost. SCDOT says there are no fees for its encroachment permits. We found no permit or fee for a roll-off on a private driveway, and no county fee for a dumpster on a county road.

Getting it wrong costs more. An obstruction in a state highway right-of-way carries a fine of up to $100 a day under S.C. Code §57-7-210, and the City of Spartanburg can remove a street obstruction without notice when immediate harm to its rights makes delay improper (§30-156). South Carolina fines up to $200 for each lead-acid battery disposed of improperly, up to $200 per appliance put in with household trash bound for a household-trash landfill, and up to $200 for mixing yard trash into those loads. Those are the reasons behind our no list.

Where the money hides

The most expensive container is the heavy one that should have been two. A slab, a shingle roof and a kitchen in one 30 yard is far past its limit; concrete in its own weight-limited 10 or 15 and the rest in a second box stays inside both limits. Banned items cost money too — tires, car batteries, used oil, appliances, TVs and computers do not belong in the box; the what-goes-in guide says where each goes instead. The only extras on our side are going over the weight allowance, keeping the bin past the rental period, or prohibited items in the load — and we explain all three before you load. Never fill above the rim: an overfilled box cannot be safely transported.

Dumpster or junk removal — and getting a quote

For anything beyond a couple of pickup loads, a container you load yourself is usually the better value, because you are paying for the box rather than the hours. For a single sofa or a cleanout with nobody to lift, our junk removal crew may suit you better. Call (864) 310-7644 — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We offer same-day or next-day delivery across Spartanburg County; call before noon for the best chance of same-day. We accept all major credit cards, business checks and electronic payments, and invoices are available for contractors and repeat clients.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to rent a dumpster in Spartanburg?

Typical rentals run $295 to $695, depending on size, rental length, debris type and any placement or permit needs. We quote each job flat by phone for your address, with no hidden pickup, fuel or delivery fees.

What is included in a flat rate?

Delivery, pickup, disposal within the weight limit for your size and the standard 7-day rental. Going over the weight allowance, keeping the bin longer, or prohibited items are the only additions, and all three are explained before you load.

Is it cheaper to haul it myself to the Wellford Landfill?

For a load or two, maybe. The County lists $33 a ton for household trash on its FY26 schedule, loads must be covered, and the gate closes at 4:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Past a handful of loads, a roll-off usually costs less in money and time.

Does it cost more outside Spartanburg?

Delivery location is part of the quote, so the far runs — Greer and Woodruff are roughly 20 to 23 road miles from our yard — can cost a little more. Any City street permit cost is separate.
