If you have never rented a dumpster, this is the page to read first. It covers the whole process from the phone call to the pickup, with the Spartanburg, Spartanburg County and South Carolina specifics that national guides leave out.

Whether you are renovating a home, clearing out a garage, running a construction job or cleaning up after a storm, a roll-off puts all the debris in one place instead of trip after trip to the landfill. The payoff is a cleaner property, a safer site, fewer landfill runs and a rental period that fits your schedule. Remodels in particular make more debris than people expect — drywall, cabinets, flooring and fixtures do not fit in a curbside cart — and roof tear-offs, estate cleanouts, landscaping and demolition all fill a box quicker than a trailer.
You call or text, tell us about the job and the address, and pick a size with our help. You get a flat-rate quote that covers delivery, pickup and disposal within the weight limit, for a standard 7-day rental. We deliver — often the same or next day — to your driveway, a job site, a commercial property or a lot. You fill it at your own pace, keeping debris level with or below the top rim, and call or text when you are done; we schedule pickup as soon as possible, often within 24 hours. You do not need to be there, as long as the box is accessible and the area is clear. Our yard is at 9091 Asheville Hwy, in unincorporated Spartanburg County just outside the city limits, so Boiling Springs is about 4 road miles away and Inman about 5.
Start with the job, then check the weight. A 10 yard, about 12 feet long, suits small home projects, bathroom remodels and yard cleanups. A 15, about 14 feet, suits garage cleanouts, minor renovations and flooring removal. The 20, 30 and 40 share a footprint of about 22 feet and get taller: the 20 for kitchen remodels, roofing jobs and large cleanouts — our most requested size; the 30 for full-home renovations, construction debris and demolition; the 40 for commercial projects, large construction and estate cleanouts. Typical weight limits run from about 2–3 tons on a 10 to 5–6 tons on a 40. The sizing guide has the full table.
The City of Spartanburg runs curbside service, but it is built for household trash. Its Solid Waste page says: "The City does NOT pick up tires, electronic waste, or contractor-generated construction/demolition materials or green waste." Furniture and appliances set 3 feet from your cart are removed within one to two business days. Green waste is "strictly limited to residential yard clippings from routine pruning and landscaping activities" — no limbs over 6 feet long or 6 inches across, no stumps, dirt or land-clearing debris. City Code §28-43 makes it unlawful to put construction, remodeling or demolition material from contract work at the curb, and §28-81 says contractors must contain job debris "by the end of each working day," with the number and type of containers "determined by the size of the job."
Outside the city, Spartanburg County has no curbside service in its code. Its 17 recycling and collection centers serve county residents only, County Code §66-31 limits the roadside containers to household garbage, and the County says all furniture and construction materials go to the Wellford Landfill. That is why a roll-off is the normal answer for a remodel, a roof, a move-out or a construction site around Spartanburg.
On your own driveway we found no City or County rule for a roll-off. On a City street, sidewalk, alley or parking space, the City requires its Temporary Street Closure and/or Encroachment permit: a minimum fee of $75, a $1,000,000 liability certificate, a $10,000 surety bond, a hold harmless agreement, an approved traffic control plan and a business license. City Code §30-156 counts the strip between the curb and the property line as street, and §30-158(b) wants a light at each end of anything left in the street at night and one every 25 feet between. On a state road, S.C. Code §57-7-210 bans obstructions in the right-of-way, and SCDOT handles encroachment permits. The container needs a flat, stable surface, and we put boards under the wheels on request. The permit guide covers the towns around us too.
South Carolina's asbestos rules are run by the SC Department of Environmental Services (SCDES), which took over DHEC's environmental programs on July 1, 2024. Under R.61-86.1, work on a private residential structure of four units or fewer may be exempt — unless the work is done by someone holding an asbestos abatement license, is part of a larger commercial or public project, covers multiple structures in a "city block," or meets a few other conditions. For a building the rule does cover, the owner or operator must submit a written demolition application to SCDES at least ten working days before demolition starts, and SCDES says that applies "even if a building inspector determines that asbestos is not present." Before asbestos goes to a landfill, the generator needs a "permission for disposal" letter from SCDES, and a landfill may choose not to accept it. Asbestos never goes in a standard roll-off. The what-goes-in guide goes through it in more detail.
County Code §66-3 requires licensed collectors to take everything they haul to the county sanitary landfill — the Wellford Landfill at 595 Little Mountain Road, open 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday. It runs a Class Two landfill for construction, demolition and land-clearing debris, a Class Three landfill for household trash, and a wood chipping and grinding facility; the FY26 fee schedule lists household trash at $33 a ton. Every load must be covered or secured under County Code §66-4. To use the county landfill a hauler needs the County collector's license — we hold ours. Whenever possible, concrete, metal and wood are separated for recycling to reduce what goes in the ground.
Spartanburg had 38,732 people at the 2020 Census and an estimated 39,978 in 2025; the county grew from 327,997 to an estimated 380,857 over the same years. The rules change once you leave the city. Boiling Springs and Roebuck are Census-designated places and Moore is unincorporated, so county rules apply there. Lyman, Inman and Chesnee make contractors remove building materials; Cowpens sends furniture and lumber to private contractors or the County landfill; Reidville offers no yard debris or large roadside pickup; Greer, split across Greenville and Spartanburg counties, has its own temporary dumpster rule. I-26 and I-85 both run through the county, so most of it is within easy reach. Each town has its own page — see the service area.
In: household junk and furniture, mattresses, wood and lumber, drywall, flooring, siding and cabinets, roofing shingles, brick, concrete and masonry in weight-limited loads, cardboard, and yard debris in its own load. Out, by South Carolina law: lead-acid batteries, used oil and unprocessed oil filters, whole tires, TVs, computers, monitors and printers, and — from loads bound for the household-trash landfill — appliances and yard trash. Out of construction and demolition landfills as well: liquid paint and thinners, fluorescent and other mercury lamps, and anything soaked in petroleum, solvents or pesticides. The full guide says where each goes instead.
Load flat items first — old paneling, doors, plywood, cardboard — to make a base, break down bulky pieces, fill gaps with smaller debris, and spread the weight evenly rather than loading everything on one end. Keep everything level with the rim — an overfilled dumpster cannot be transported safely. Keep the path clear for pickup. Need more time? Call or text and we extend for a small daily fee, or swap a full box mid-project.
